Week 8: #19: web-based apps

I just created my zoho account, and created my Blue Moon Zoho document. I haven't the faintest idea what this document is about Blue Moon zoho sounds like a place that an alien would like to visit before he returns in his spaceship to Roswell, New Mexico!

Week 8: #18: Social networking

I, personally, would not have use for myspace as a social network. I do not like the idea of sharing personal information with people I don't know. That may be narrow-minded, but I am a very private person. The cats and dogs in ning, catster and dogster and the wag network were very cute and the stories were interesting and sometimes sad. They were fun sites, but, I don't have the extra time right now to enjoy them. I am sure that they are a way for many people to communicate, but I still like my cell phone.

Week &: #17: technology

I myself am not a computer technology person. I don't feel that I have the time to explore everything that is available such as blogging and avatars. Perhaps, someday I will be able to use these technologies for fun and not just for work. I see their place in the library, however. We must keep up with the future or we will be left behind. I also firmly believe that our future world will be built almost completely on this technology. So I am all for it! After all, where would we be without the Wright Brothers or the space movement. So, I strongly support the libraries movements in this direction, and I hope that in the future, I will understand it better and use it more frequently.

Weei 7; wikki

I can see how this would be very useful to patrons who really liked to blog. They can share their favorite restuarants and animals with others, and they can learn additional contacts for these subjects while blogging.

Week 6: exercise #15

Library elf and widget took a walk one day. They were on their way to the icebergs when they got hungry and decided to stop for a bite to eat. They went into the feedster to get a hamburger, but the bloglines were long and they had to leave. So they decided to go back to their safe haven library thing and look on their virtual shelf. Much to their surprise there were FD toys for them to paly with and they forgot they were hungry!

Week #15: library 2.0 & web 2.0

I fully understand that libraries want to be part of a vital future. That is the reason for things like librarianship and icebergs. It is a wonderful thing to be able to offer information to patrons online and give them an open catalog to anywhere in the world. But, we must also not loose sight of the fact that there are some patrons that still remember the "old card catalog." These patrons will undoubtedly be intimidated by this library of the future. The challenge is to satisfy both our patrons that want almost complete internet service for information, and to still be able to help those that want a more "hands on" library service.

Week 6: tagging and del.icio.us

I think that tagging could be very useful in placing a comment with a picture. These techniques could be very helpful also if you used a lot of bookmarks.

Week 6: tagging

I have tagged cats and kittens to my account. They are two of my favorite things.

Weej 6L del.icio.us

I believe I have successfully posted to this account. I am going to now try tagging.

Week 5; Elf exercise Post 12

I did manage to complete this exercise a little more successfully, but I still had to have help getting into my account. I continue to trudge on until I can do a whole exercise by myself!

Thoughts for the day on the "23 things"

Princess Meez and Prince Avatar hopped into their generator and headed for the land of Pixer. They were trying to use their triggermap to get there. Along the way they used their snipshots to record the trip. When they arrived, however, their flickr had gone out of their blogline. So they had to use the RSS feed to fix it. They thought they were all set when their wicki went wacki, and they had to return to the land of google docs!

week 5 : number 11

http://www.librarything.com/catalog/fred3347 I have not yet been able to start and finish my exercise for any of the weeks for 23 things. That is very discouraging to me. I would like to be able to figure just one of them out by myself.

week 5: #10

I helped my friend and co-worker learn how to do this exercise. She learned how to do the exercise by showing me how to do this. Hooray!

Week 4: subscribing to other ihcpl participants.

I am still having difficulty understanding how and what to do on our exercises. I have had to have help from my fellow workers, but it has been a bonding experience.
I enjoyed Week 4: #9 Finding Feeds. It was very informative. I enjoyed "topix" the most because it gave a lot of good news events. I did not particularly enjoy "technorati" because I am not an avid blogger.
